Almost 9 percent of the foreign born population in the US is from Central America. According to Census data and Pew Hispanic Center analysis, this segment of the foriegn born population is growing faster than any other. The increase in the percentage of Central American that were foreign born in the US went from 6.52 percent to 7.59 percent (which represented an overall increase of 14 percent). The only other region close to this type of growth was South America which registered a 9 percent increase in their proportion of foreign born residents in the US.
