Guinea-Bissau

1981 - 1982 - USAID Agronomist in West Africa (Guinea-Bissau).  Established a national seed program and the country's first seed testing laboratory and developed seed regulations and testing procedures.  Gathered plant and seed material and conducted the first Univ. of Illinois INSTOY soybean trial in Guinea-Bissau.  

These are the young men I worked with in Guinea-Bissau.  This photo was taken at the Seed Technology Lab at Mississippi State University in 1978.  The two students on the front right are from Brazil.  Dr. Hunter Andrews is next to me on the second row.  During my time in Guinea-Bissau, we conducted the first INTSOY trial.  See the summary report below.
